Our business was founded in December 1999 when Tianqiao Chen and Danian Chen established Shanda Networking which initially focused on investments relating to the development and operation of a Chinese language online virtual community. In November 2001, we commercially launched Mir II, our first massively multiplayer online role-playing game, or MMORPG. In March 2003, we commercially launched Fortress II, our first casual game, and in October 2003, we launched Woool, our first in-house developed online game. Currently, we commercially operate nine online games consisting of five MMORPGs and four casual games. In addition to our internal growth we have developed our business through a number of strategic acquisitions and investments, including the following: • the acquisition of Hangzhou Bianfeng Software Co.
