Glossary Term: COUPON

Definition(s) for COUPON:


1. ) refers to the rate of interest payable annually. Where the coupon is blank, it can indicate that the bond can be a ' zero-coupon,' a new issue, or that it is a variable-rate bond.

2. ) Rate of interest that is payable on a fixed-interest security, traditionally a detachable coupon.

3. ) The stated interest paid on a bond as a percent of its face amount (or par value).  A $1,000 bond with a coupon of 6%, pays $60 per year, usually in two payments of $30.

4. ) Interest rate payment on bond.

5. ) This is a regular payment received by the bondholder over the lifetime of the bond. The coupon rate is expressed as a percentage of the face value of the bond.

6. ) The interest rate paid on a specified date to a debt security holder.
