Glossary Term: CREDIT

Definition(s) for CREDIT:


1. ) may refer to any of the following definitions: 1) money loaned. 2)ability to borrow or to purchase goods and services with delayed payment beyond delivery. 3) an accounting entry resulting in an increase in liabilities or owners' equity or in a decrease in assets. 4) the balance in an account.

2. ) The promise to pay in the future in order to buy or borrow in the present. The right to defer payment of debt.

3. ) Any money lent through loans and bonds or money owed for the payment of goods and services.

4. ) Money received in an account. A credit transaction is one in which the net sale proceeds are larger than the net buy proceeds (cost), thereby bringing money into the account. See also Debit.

5. ) Money received in an account either from a deposit or a transaction that results in increasing the account's cash balance.
