Definition(s) for CURRENT ASSETS:
1. ) Also called gross working capital, it refers to the group of assets considered the most liquid. It generally consists of cash, accounts receivable, inventory, prepaid expenses and a few minor items. Current assets are typically not very profitable but tend to add liquidity and safety to a firm's operation.
2. ) Those assets of a company that are reasonably expected to be realized in cash, or sold, or consumed during one year. These include cash, U.S. Government bonds, receivables and money due usually within one year, and inventories.
